Irene Fleming is a passionate fan of silent movies, from the first wacky efforts of Thomas Edison and his lab assistants to the Oscar-winning Sunrise. Writing as Kate Gallison, she has three private eye novels and five traditional mysteries to her credit. The New York Times called her writing “excitement of an off-beat variety;” Booklist, “superb black comedy;” Kirkus Reviews, “Well-bred work.” Her Mother Lavinia Grey stories were the talk of the Episcopal Church. She is descended from a convicted Salem witch.
